Meghan's Story...

A 2017 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown, Pa., Meghan Marie Johnson loved to sing, write music, and share her passion for the stage. She was very active in her high school drama club and theatre program, as well as several community theatres.

Sadly, Meghan passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer at the age of 18, just 5 days shy of her 19th birthday.

Her younger sister Rachael and the rest of the family wish to honor Meghan's memory and her passion for the arts by providing scholarships for high school seniors at Lower Dauphin High School (LDHS), Mifflin County High School (MCHS), and Annville - Cleona High School (ACHS).

About the Meghan M. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund

In high school, Meghan also excelled academically, maintaining membership in the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, and the Science Honor Society. Meghan held the position of President in several on campus clubs including Student Council, Volunteen, Drama Club, and the Women’s Select Choir. She was a mentor through Club Ophelia and Camp Ophelia and volunteered her extra time to working with children at the community library. She loved shopping, buying shoes, Taylor Swift, eating Peeps, the color pink, Arnold Palmer Iced Tea, watching The Golden Girls, and spending time with her many friends. The grey in the logo is for the color of brain cancer, the pink is because it is Meghan's favorite color!

Meghan's phrase that she used often was "but, I'm doin' it" when referring to her daily struggles with cancer. With the creation of the Meghan M. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund, Team Meghan, Camp Meghan, and, we continue to "do it" for Meghan!

Scholarships will be awarded to seniors wishing to study the arts in any form and will not be limited to music or theatre.  If you are a Lower Dauphin High School, Mifflin County High School, or Annville - Cleona High School Senior, and would like more information on how to apply, please contact your guidance counselor. We are offering 2 (two) $500 Scholarships at LDHS, 1 (one) $500 Scholarship at MCHS, and 1 (one) $500 Scholarship at ACHS in 2019.

The Meghan M. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
